Katie Hargrave and Amber Ginsburg / Building (after the Nebraska National Forest)
The Nebraska National forest is a hand planted forest in the Sand Hills of Nebraska, an ecosystem that would not support trees naturally. Though the trees thrive, seeds do not germinate, creating an endless loop for Park Rangers planting trees. The nursery at the Nebraska National forest supports other forests all over the country. Whenever a disaster hits, replanting from this nursery allows forests to bounce back faster than is natural. We ask, what would it look like to plant forests in other treeless landscapes?
